Homes2inspire Limited, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset County Council have formed a unique partnership to offer homes and support for children and young people within Somerset who have experienced significant trauma and difficulties in their lives. We are creating a different sort of home and care for children and young people which offers them flexibility and support from a full range of people that can help them. This home is part of a wider service we are developing together including, more children’s homes, high needs foster carers, CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) intensive treatment houses and therapeutic education.

This is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to develop a new service within Somerset, including opening a new 3 bed home and having a key role in the training of staff. The successful candidate will be an inspirational role model for not only the young person but also staff and will hold previous experience working with challenging behaviours and complex needs. The individual will also possess experience working in an Ofsted registered provision and be confident in their knowledge and ability to manage a Registered Children’s Home.  

Some duties and responsibilities will include; managing the residential home on a day to day basis ensuring compliance in all relevant legislative and contractual requirements,  ensuring specific plans for the young person are met and carried out, ensure good decisions are made in order to support the child, demonstrate good child practices in one’s own direct work with children to role model for other staff and identifying resourcing needs and ongoing selection, training and development of staff to ensure service delivery is optimised. The successful candidate will also be part of the Manager on call and be available to support the homes as required. 

Essential Criteria 

  • The right candidate must have a QCF level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards) 
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a Registered Children’s Home setting in supervisory role. 
  • Substantive experience in a Managerial role including supervisory experience.  
  • Thorough understanding of the regulations and legislations which set the standards within a Children’s Home setting  
  • Proven track record with Ofsted 
  • Ability to work closely with Responsible Individual and key individuals within the strategic partnership 
  • Full UK Driving Licence  
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service.
