Purpose
As an IPS Employment Specialist, you will support people with mental health support needs to find and sustain paid employment that matches their skills, interests and career goals. Working closely with clients, healthcare professionals, community services and local employers, you will play a key role in helping individuals improve their wellbeing, confidence, social inclusion and independence through work.
Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, you will provide personalised employment support to a caseload of clients, guiding them through every stage of their employment journey. Full IPS training will be provided. You will work in partnership with Primary Care Networks, Community Mental Health Teams, Early Intervention Psychosis Services and Talking Therapies teams, ensuring employment support is fully integrated into an individual's recovery journey.
A key part of the role will involve developing strong relationships with local employers, identifying suitable job opportunities and matching clients to vacancies that align with their aspirations and abilities. You will provide ongoing support to both clients and employers to help ensure successful and sustained employment outcomes.
This is a rewarding and people-focused role that requires excellent communication skills, empathy, resilience and a passion for transforming lives through employment. You will support individuals from initial referral and vocational assessment through to job search, placement and in-work support, gradually reducing support as clients gain confidence and independence in their employment.
