Job Title: Learning & Development (L&D) Trainer
Location: Peripatetic, travel required across Somerset
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Salary: £31,609 – £37,854 per annum
About Us
We are proud to be part of the Homes & Horizons project in partnership with Somerset Council, NHS Somerset and CAMHS, creating safe, therapeutic homes for Somerset children who’ve been placed outside the county. We currently have 8 homes operational, with more due to open in 2026.
This is a really exciting opportunity to support adults with the right training so they can provide exceptional care to some of Somerset’s most vulnerable children bringing them back to their communities and to people who care.
The Role
- You will design and deliver impactful training programs that empower our teams to provide exceptional care for children and young people.
- As a subject matter expert and cultural ambassador, you will provide a learning environment that values continuous improvement, reflective practice and professional growth.
- Beyond delivering training, you will collaborate with managers to identify skill gaps, tailor development plans and embed learning into everyday practice.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver engaging training that empowers teams to provide exceptional care for children and young people.
- Ensure best practice in safeguarding and trauma-informed care.
- Deliver interactive sessions and create tailored programs based on organisational needs.
- Provide coaching and support to embed learning into everyday practice.
- Monitor outcomes and refine training to stay compliant and effective.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in Learning & Development or training within the care sector.
- Training qualification (desirable): Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent), Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, Other relevant teaching/training qualifications
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Children's Home Regulations and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to design and deliver training using methods to suit learners’ needs.
- Passion for continuous learning and reflective practice.
