Purpose

As our Media & PR Manager, you'll develop compelling strategic communication strategies to tell the Shaw Trust story. You’ll craft engaging content, nurture relationships with journalists and increase our profile. By doing so, you'll be playing a vital role in helping those who are facing barriers to work and social inclusion achieve their full potential.

In this role, you'll be responsible for leading and mentoring a small communications team. You will collaborate closely across both Marketing and Communications and Public Affairs activity. You’ll spot the PR opportunities for our campaigns, as well as identifying standalone opportunities to increase our visibility. Your work will result in impactful campaigns that resonate across our varied audiences.

We're searching for a strategic and creative thinker with exceptional communication skills, and a passion for driving change.

Essential:

You will have:

  • Membership of relevant professional body or equivalent experience 
  • Extensive experience of media and PR work, with a proven ability to deal with journalists robustly and fairly 
  • Existing contacts with media with interests in Shaw Trust’s areas of work, or the ability to develop these relationships at pace 
  • Experience of providing strategic communications advice, including reputation management to leaders of a large, complex organisation

Location:

Home-based, with travel to meetings and events as required.
