Operations Director – Learning and Skills

Do you have what it takes to help people improve their life chances through learning, improved wellbeing and better career prospects?

In these times of uncertainty, we are pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity within Shaw Trust, for an Operations Director in our Learning and Skills division, which is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ training provider of skills and education.

We help people with their education, entering work, developing their career, improving their wellbeing and rebuilding their lives.  As a charity we add value to everything we do by investing back into the people and communities we support.

Shaw Trust operates on a national level with over 2,000 staff and 1,000 volunteers.  We work with the government, local authorities, combined authorities, employers, stakeholders – including the Education and Skills Funding Agency, Department for Work and Pensions, clinical commissioning groups and NHS Trusts.

The Person

Are you an operational and commercially minded leader with a compassionate heart? Are you supportive and collaborative? Do you have an understanding of the Learning and Skills sector?  Or do you have Lived Experience/Expertise or other valuable skills that you could bring to the role which would enhance the services we provide.

We want a critical and strategic thinker who can build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and who can lead all aspects of our Learning and Skills division.

Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, this is a key senior leadership role that will contribute to setting our organisational objectives and strategic aims. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and forward thinking, who can combine commercial expertise, strategic skill set and financial nous to drive the organisation forward.

As the ideal candidate you will be inclusive and embrace our culture and values, putting those we serve at the heart of everything we do.  You will consistently deliver high quality services to support our communities and beneficiaries.

Shaw Trust is committed to a policy of equal opportunity and inclusion. We are Disability Confident Leaders and support the government’s Access to Work scheme.  Living our values we are keen to reflect the diversity of UK society at every level within our organisation. We welcome applications from all sections of the community including from those with personal direct experience and/or knowledge of disability or social exclusion. If you have a disability and our website does not accommodate this, email: HRService.Centre@shaw-trust.org.uk to make alternative arrangements.
